Observing the Equinox" is German artist, Dieter Tremp's, second solo exhibit at Endangered Planet Gallery in Laguna Beach, opening on 20 February with an artist reception on 19 March, the Vernal Equinox. Subtitled "Stone Circles and other Ancient Monuments" the exhibit explores the mysterious nature of megalithic structures and other monuments as they relate to humankind's ancient and ongoing relationship with Earth's natural rhythms. The spectrum of Tremp's intriguing canvases painted with organic textures and subtle colors reaches from stark images of Nordic stone circles for observation of the seasons to megalithic graves containing mysterious gifts to Melanesian bamboo towers erected for their annual power rituals. Common to all images in this exhibit is an appreciation of man's search for living and building in harmony with Earth and the sense of mystery associated with it.

"Observing the Equinox" follows Dieter Tremp's highly praised 2007 exhibit "Organic Compositions" at Endangered Planet Gallery. For the present show the widely travelled artist who now lives and works in a small coastal town in Northern California has originally drawn on images from his native Northern Germany where pre-historic sites dot the Baltic landscape. His sense of the importance of maintaining an appreciation for mystery, mythology and deep respect for the Earth coalesce with the artist's deft handling of texture and fine control of color glazes, often rubbed rather than painted onto the canvas. In reference to the exhibit's title and in harmony with the Gallery's environmental mission, the exhibit, which will open on 20 February, will celebrate Vernal Equinox, the moment when the Sun's zenith will cross Earth's equator on 19 March, with an artist reception.
